our mission
We believe that everyone has the right to pleasure and that exploring sexual pleasure is key to being a healthy human being. Sexuality is a core component of personal identity, and strongly influences how we all operate in the world — from what we buy, to where we live, to how we interact with others. Everyone has the right to the shameless exploration of sex and sensuality, free from the disapproval of pleasure so often the case in our sex-negative culture.
Sexual experiences range from fun and playful to intense and healing. Pleasure that's right for one person isn't necessarily right for the next. We believe that education and self-exploration are the best way to become comfortable with our desires, and make us more understanding of desires that are not our own.
Because this is what we believe, we offer a comfortable, non-judgmental environment and a wide range of tools and toys so people can explore their sexuality and gender. With a variety of high-quality products, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a far-ranging workshop series, Venus Envy is an educational community as well as a retail business where people can ask questions, share experiences, and empower themselves.
The University of Ottawa's Couple Research Lab is looking for participants for their online study on same-sex couple relationships! This study aims to better understand personal and relationship factors that contribute to well being and distress in same-sex couples.
To be eligible, you must be 18 years old or more, have a good knowledge of English and be in a same-sex couple relationship for at least 12 months. In order to thank you for your participation, you will be entered in a draw for gift certificates to a music store.
