"guests" and "members"
You can become a registered member by setting up an account through our web catalogue. The account contains your shipping and payment information, a record of your purchases, and tracking information about your orders.
Our privacy and security policies explain our approach to handling your personal information. It's very conservative: we won't ever share or sell your information to anyone, and we have taken many precautions to protect our site — and your data — from intruders.
You can also browse or purchase as a guest shopper without setting up such an account. We offer this option because some people are uncomfortable with their personal information being stored by web sites. The disadvantages to shopping as a guest are:
- the lack of online tracking information about your order (you can, of course, call us and ask)
- short-lived carts: guest carts last only while in use, and expire after 20 minutes of inactivity
- the inconvenience of re-entering your information if you return to shop again
- we will be unable to contact you about your order once it is has been processed
We are happy to do business with you either way. We offer the option of guest shopping because we believe our customers have a right to privacy and should not be required to register in order to purchase from us if doing so is (for whatever reason) something they'd rather not do. We offer accounts to our registered customers only as a useful convenience.
