In this provocative manifesto, biologist and transsexual woman Julia Serrano shares her experience pre-and post-transition. In doing so she reveals the ways that fear, contempt, and dismissiveness toward femininity shape society's attitudes toward trans women, as well as gender and sexuality as a whole. Whipping Girl is a personal, analytical, gripping account that debunks popular misconceptions about transsexuality.

Whipping Girl review
This is the best book I have read in a long time. I read it from the introduction right through to the last page which hardly ever happens.
Among other things, Serrano accounts the troubles trans folk have had within feminism and presents very clear reasons for their inclusion in this.
