DON'T LET ME GO: Queer Community and the Ethics of Radical Love
In many ways, the end of the world has never seemed closer: climate crisis, fascist resurgence, and late-stage capitalism are ravaging the planet and all of our communities. Perhaps most heartbreaking of all, radical queer and social justice communities often seem intent on tearing each other apart through call-out culture, political infighting, and punitive justice just when we need each other most. Coinciding with the launch of her new book I HOPE WE CHOOSE LOVE: A Trans Girl's Notes from the End of the World, Kai Cheng Thom offers this informal, discussion-based workshop as a healing space for community members who are searching for a better way to love one another. Kai Cheng will offer some practical tools for resolving intra-community conflict, transforming call-out culture, and working as activists to heal collective trauma.
Participants should come ready to respect their own and others' boundaries. The topics above may be emotionally challenging or triggering; therefore, self-care is encouraged. All workshop activities are optional.
