How It Works

The Diva Cup works by collecting blood, rather than absorbing it like tampons, so it doesn't cause dryness or change the pH balance of the vagina

Sizing: According to Diva Cup, Model 0 is made for people who are under 18; Model 1 is best suited for those who are between 19-30 and/or who have a medium menstrual flow; and Model 2 is best suited for those who are over 30 and/or who have a heavy flow. As far as we can tell, 30 is a mostly arbitrary age cut-off, but your menstrual flow and pelvic width might be a better marker. As always, you know your body best.

To insert the cup, fold the sides and insert in your vagina. It's best to do this in a position where you're as relaxed as possible. Once the Diva Cup is fully inside you, grip the base of the cup and turn it slightly in either direction - this creates a seal to prevent leaks. To remove, pinch the base of the cup and pull down gently until you are able to take it out (pulling on an angle may help). Make sure to keep squeezing the base until it's all the way out, so that it doesn't pop open unexpectedly. We'd recommend trying this a couple times when you're not menstruating, just to get used to the process!

Care Instructions

To clean, simply wash with hot soapy water. The Diva Cup can also be boiled after or before your period for extra cleanliness. If removing in a public bathroom, simply dump contents into the toilet, wipe out with toilet paper, and re-insert. Store in the included bag.

The lifespan of your menstrual cup may vary, depending on vaginal pH, how often and how well your cup is cleansed, what cleansing agents are used, etc. The manufacturer's suggestion is that a Diva Cup can last up to 5 years, but it is ultimately up to the consumer to decide when to replace their cup. Please note that discolouration of the Diva Cup is normal.

Sustainable Period

Challenging at first, but I'm determined to transition to a waste free period! Would recommend buying the soap with it. I don't trust anything inside me that's not designed to be and neither should you.

I've had a Diva Cup for

I've had a Diva Cup for almost two years now, and I can say confidently that I am Never going back to pads/tampons. Ever. This is actually a life changer. I have a very heavy period. On my heaviest days I can bleed through the heaviest tampons in less than an hour, and was almost always bleeding through to my sheets at night. It was a university student nightmare. I was paranoid. How could I get my supplies out of my bookbag in a crowded room of friends working on assignments? I wouldn't go anywhere overnight with friends if my period might come...

As other reviews have said, I must stress. IT'S LIKE YOU'RE NOT EVEN ON YOUR PERIOD.

The absolute clincher for me was when my period came second last day of a backcountry camping trip this summer. Plans for that day: 4 hour swim/hike around perimeter of lake. Plans for next day: 5 km hike out to "civilization". Bathroom situation: outhouse, no running water. And sleeping in a sleeping bag, which is a lot harder to clean than sheets. Worst. Fears. Realized.

And guess what was a non-issue? awww yeah. I am a believer.

Do it. buy it. you will never go back

Best Investment Ever

I bought my Diva Cup from a lovely lady at Venus Envy and I will never use another method again. I was skeptical at first, but after the first day, I had so much confidence in the product I wore a khaki coloured skirt to work the next day with no fears. Its like you forget you're on your period at the time, because you're not dealing with a string or pad every time you pee (and boy do I pee a lot!) It's cleaner than a pad and the money you save is amazing! So much less waste produced! Writing this feels like I should be in a commercial or something, but I just love spreading the news about how fantastic theDiva Cup is. And no, I do not work for them. I am just a very happy woman with a happier vagina because of this!

Diva cup review

I could never wear tampons, they would make me feel dry and uncomfortable. I got the cup and now I can go swimming everyday and still feel comfortable.
