Venus Envy is an education-based sex shop and bookstore located in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Since opening in 1998 Venus Envy has strived to be a safe space to explore desires and expand knowledge on topics surrounding sexual health, gender and sexuality, feminism, and social justice.
We curate a book and zine selection from a feminist and trans/queer framework that includes subjects such as sexual health and well-being, anti-racism and decolonization, trauma and recovery, feminist and queer culture, disability justice, queer and trans fiction, poetry, memoir and so much more.
We have a great and growing selection of sex toys and accessories, including vibrators, dildos, butt toys, pelvic health products, leather and rope, and more! Our online shop contains but a fraction of what we offer in store. We've been voted Best Independent Bookstore AND Best Sex Toy Shop in The Coast's annual Best Of Readers' Poll.
Beyond books and toys, we also carry items for massage, safer sex tools like condoms and other barriers (internal condoms, dental dams, gloves etc.), lube, Pride gear, gender affirming items (binders, gaffs, packers, STP’s and breast forms)
We strongly believe that one of the best ways to enjoy a healthy and playful sex life is to be informed. To that end, we offer workshops on all kinds of sex and social justice related topics where people can ask questions and share their experiences in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
