Bio: Marisa DiCosta and Amos Zell
Marisa DiCosta (he/they) is a transmasculine non-binary settler living and working in K’jipuktuk (Halifax). Marisa is a Licensed Practical Nurse currently working in long term care. In 2023, after years of struggling to access gender affirming care Marisa started HRT and was approved for gender affirming surgery. Through the process of accessing gender affirming care personally and working within the NS Health Authority professionally Marisa has learned firsthand how difficult it is for trans folks to access equitable and culturally competent care. For this reason, Marisa has dedicated himself to providing education to those who are open to learning and culturally competent, person-centered care to every individual he cares for. Marisa firmly believes in community care and wants to use the skills he has learned over the course of his career to support the community he lives in.
Amos Zell is an anti-Zionist Ashkenazi Jew living in Kjipuktuk. He is a trans man and has been involved in community for over 20 years, including founding Trans Masculine NS in 2016. He is passionate about all things plants and gardening and recently became a chicken dad.
Trans Masculine NS is a group for local trans masculine folks to socialize, support each other, connect and co-conspire. We welcome all trans masculine identities and expressions including 2 spirit, MoC, guys of trans history, trans men, non binary and genderqueer folks' in this closed safer space. You can find us at:
