In this workshop we will explore how the experience of chronic pain impacts the way in which we date and how we can begin to navigate the unique challenges that this brings. We will discuss topics around disclosing a chronic pain condition, navigating conversations around disability and the impact of dating someone living with chronic pain in new relationships, and exploring common pressures and misconceptions of what is possible dating with chronic pain. Isolation, anxieties and loneliness are known to increase our experience of pain and our experience of ourselves, and not only are we all deserving of fun, love and the experience of intimate relationships; love and its many expressions can be an exciting, playful pain reliever. Relationships are a large part of our lives, regardless of what form they take on, this workshop wants to empower folks living in chronic pain to embrace their sensuality and their capacity to explore the world of dating and all it has to offer them.
