The Pelvic Health Newsletter

In this week's newsletter, we're gonna dive into the pelvic health section of our website. If you've ever wondered about any of these products, read on!

Dilators

A dilator is a tool for pelvic floor muscle relaxation. Dilators can be used to improve vaginal elasticity, and to help readjust to vaginal penetration. They are sometimes used post-surgery or medical treatment, after childbirth, during menopause, etc. Dilators may come in sets of 3-6, and some folks will start with the smallest size and work their way up.

They are made of ABS plastic or silicone, giving the choice of either a firm dilator, or a softer more flexible dilator! Check with a doctor or pelvic floor physio to see if dilation is right for you!

Pelvic Wands

Created to relieve trigger points in the pelvic floor muscles, the pelvic wand by Intimate Rose is a unique tool! It is very firm, and can be used vaginally or anally.

It is used by pelvic health physiotherapists, and sometimes prescribed for use in between appointments. It allows you to access hard to reach muscles of the pelvic floor to massage and relieve points that are causing pain or discomfort.

Moisturizer

These moisturizers can be used throughout the day or applied before sex to relieve discomfort associated with vaginal dryness.

Vaginal dryness can be a side effect of certain medications, hormonal changes, or general life changes!

The moisturizers that we carry are non-hormonal, and water-based, which makes them okay to use with condoms and other latex.

Kegel Balls

Kegel balls are weighted balls used to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, or as a sex toy! They can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including incontinence, prolapse, etc. Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can also increase the intensity of orgasms for some.

It is important to consult a professional before proceeding with kegel balls, since not everyone needs their pelvic floor muscles strengthened to this degree, and overuse or improper use can result in pain, discomfort, and muscle tightness.

Lube

And of course... lube! Lube will be your best friend when using any pelvic health tools. Pairing a quality water-based lube with use of dilators, kegel balls, or pelvic wands will enhance the experience.

Lube makes insertion easier, use more comfortable and pleasurable, and can even help enhance vibration!
