Venus Envy is excited to partner with The ArQuives! In anticipation of their upcoming exhibit 'Of Kin and Other Impossible Homes' (Curated by Jae Kim and The ArQuives Curatorial Committee), Venus Envy, among other independent bookstores across the country, has curated a collection of books by trans* and gender-diverse authors across the Asian diaspora. You can browse our digital display or pop by our shop at 1727 Barrington Street, Halifax, NS to check out these incredible titles in person! Our book display will be up for the entire month of May which coincides with Asian Heritage Month.

ABOUT 'Of Kin and Other Impossible Homes':

Building home is an act of defiance in a world that has not made space for it. For many trans and gender-diverse individuals Asians across the Asian diaspora, kinship has been created in the absence of precedent, forming beyond traditional structures of belonging. "Of Kin and Other Impossible Homes" traces these histories of care and connection through personal narratives, photographs, and archival materials. By weaving together past and present, this exhibition honours the ways queer kinship reshapes what home can be, even in the most unlikely places.

OPENING RECEPTION: May 29, 2025 from 6-8 PM at The ArQuives (34 Isabella St, Toronto, Ontario). Refreshments provided.

The ArQuives is Canada's largest LGBTQ2+ archives, dedicated to preserving the histories of queer and trans communities at a national level.
